A Carol for Advent

Making Music Memories with Children

Christmas Carols are such a simple, beautiful way to make memories with your children.

As we celebrate the coming of the Christ child, we also yearn for His birth with the singing of carols. These carols are a mixture of anticipation, solemnity, and even sadness.

One of the most beautiful carols is Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus.

This traditional Advent carol (written by Charles Wesley) has two recognized versions. Exploring the history of the carol, the biography of Charles Wesley, and then listening to and learning the carol are worthy things to do with all ages during the Advent season.

A Complimentary Download

Please enjoy this complimentary download. All listening links, notebooking pages, and teacher instructions are included.

Both versions of this traditional Advent hymn by Charles Welsey are included.  The history of the hymn, as well as particular music elements, are explored.

This lesson is similar to 10 other carols we explore in our Christmas Carol series. It is a self-guided PDF download that includes everything you will need to learn about the carol.

The goal of each SQUILT lesson is expose your child to beautiful music, and to train them to listen for the essential elements of music - and then articulate those thoughts.

I hope you enjoy this lesson - and most of all, the wonder of Advent with your family!
